Well, we saw some glimpses of last year’s Stars team last night in the 3rd period. The Stars gave up their 1-0 lead by surrendering two goals late in the period and end up losing 2-1. While the Stars did lose, not all hope was lost. Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill finally got Robertston to sign his extension late last night. Robertson is most likely now in Dallas and getting ready to hit the ice for practice today. Here are three key takeaways from the game last night.

Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche Recap: 1. Khudobins era in Dallas is basically done

Anton Khudobin basically sealed his fate last night in the 3rd period. He was the goalie that allowed two late goals that gave the Avalanche the win last night. More than likely he will be heading to Cedar Park for the last year of his contract or he will be let go. I don’t see another team wanting to trade for him, especially after last night. Nill just needs to sit him down and get this over with. Jake Oettinger and Scott Wedgewood will be your goaltenders in 2022-23.

Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche Recap: 2. Riley Damiani made a case last night

During last night’s game, Riley Damiani made a strong case to make the Star’s opening night roster. He was the lone goalscorer in last night’s game on a breakaway attempt. He was also providing other opportunities for his teammates to score. If he makes the final preseason game roster and does well, he can unpack his bags in Dallas instead of Cedar Park. Below is the highlight of his goal from last night.

Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche Recap: 3. Jason Robertson resigns

Stars fans got a sigh of relief after the game last night. Right after the overtime loss, the Stars announced on their social media accounts that Jason Robertson signed a four-year deal worth 7.75 million a year. Fans went crazy on social media with the news. It even interrupted one of our contributor’s podcast recordings last night.

Fans can now rest easy that Robo and Otter resigned and they will remain in Dallas for the time being. I would expect a lot of Oettinger and Robertson jerseys and shirts selling at the Stars Pro Shops within the next week.
