After having to suffer the long offseason after almost beating the Calgary Flames in game 7, the season is here. The Dallas Stars will start their 2022-23 season by taking on their division rivals the Nashville Predators. Now before we get into the three keys to the game, It’s only game 1 of 82 this season. I don’t want to see Twitter go ablaze if the Stars end up losing to the Predators. We don’t need to relocate the team or trade Otter. Here are three keys to the game if the Stars want to start 1-0 tomorrow night.

Dallas Stars vs Nashville Predators Preview: 3. Play spoiler to Cody Glass’s first NHL game

I hate to be that person that wants someone’s NHL debut to be spoiled but it might happen. If you haven’t seen the heartwarming video from the Nashville Predators, it’s down below. I know the Stars are in the same boat as Wyatt Johnston is making his debut. The Stars can’t fall into their old ways and allow Glass and the Predators to enjoy a heartwarming win. Stars need to come out and be physical all night long and continue to get the puck in the back of the net.

Dallas Stars vs Nashville Predators Preview: 2. Help Oettinger

Jake Oettinger is now beginning his first full season as the Star’s goaltender. Oettinger showed us last season he can defend the net like a veteran, he just needs help from the defense. The defense can’t be standing around in the zone like in the final preseason game. I want to see relentless checking and making sure the Predators can’t set up in front of the net. If the Stars can prevent the Predators offense from setting up in the Stars zone, I like our chances.

Dallas Stars vs Nashville Predators Preview: 1. Get DeBoer His First Win As Stars Coach

As you already know the Stars made a head coaching change and named Pete DeBoer as the new head coach. I hate that his first game as the Stars coach is on the road. What better way to kick off his era in Dallas Stars history is with a win. If the Stars do end up winning, please give the DeBoer a Gatorade shower in the locker room.
