The Dallas Stars wrap up their first roadtrip with a stop in Boston to take on the Bruins. This will be another early tough matchup for the Stars as the Bruins are currently first in the Atlantic Division. This will also be a bittersweet game as well since they will be going up against former Dallas Stars Head Coach Jim Montgomery. With all of that, the Stars need to have their heads on straight if they want to conclude this roadtrip with a win. Here are the three keys of the game.
Dallas Stars vs Boston Bruins Pregame: 3. Otter Time
Jake Oettinger will most likely be in net tonight against the Bruins. It’s a very familiar place for Oettinger since he went to Boston University for college hockey. In Oettinger’s last outing against Montreal, we found out he was human as he allowed two goals against the Canadiens. I expect Oettinger to be at his best tonight against the Bruins with a couple days of rest.
Dallas Stars vs Boston Bruins Pregame: 2. Contain Bruins Offense
The Stars have to make sure they shut down the Bruins top two players tonight. David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron will try their best to test Oettinger early and often in the first period. Pastrnak currently is the Bruins goal leader with four goals and he’s followed by Bergeron with three. If these guys get scoring early and get the crowd into it, it will be a long night for Dallas.
Dallas Stars vs Boston Bruins Pregame: 1. Let the Bruins have it
The Stars would like to be balanced on offense and defense during games. However, the Stars need to be aggressive tonight on offense. Last night against the Senators, they couldn’t get anything going on offense and finished with a two goals. They can’t let this rowdy Bruins crowd influence the outcome of the game. If the Stars can come in and overwhelm this Bruins team, they can finish this roadtrip with a win and some clam chowder for the plane ride back to Dallas.
