The Dallas Stars welcome the Los Angeles Kings to the American Airlines Center tonight. It will be weird with Scott Wedgewood starting between the pipes tonight since Oettinger got injured. The Stars will need everyone to help out Wedgewood since he can’t defend the net by himself. There’s nothing the players can do about his injury now but to move forward with the season and win some games. Here are the three keys to the game if the Stars want to beat the Kings.

Dallas Stars vs Los Angeles Kings Preview: 3. Attack Johnathan Quick

I assume Johnathan Quick will be starting in between the pipes since he has experience going up against the Stars. They have to get shots on goal and wear out Quick tonight. I want to see players crash the net until one of the refs blow the whistle. We can’t start getting conservative on offense like we did last season. Jamie Benn’s line has to get going along with the checking line and Seguin’s line.

Dallas Stars vs Los Angeles Kings Preview: 2. Kings will be tired

The Los Angeles Kings are in St. Louis tonight taking on the Blues. This means when they come to Texas tomorrow, they will be extremely tired from the night before. The Stars have to realize that this is basically an easy win for them and they have to get it. If they can’t take advantage of a team that’s on the tail end of a back-to-back, they got some issues the Stars need to talk over in the locker room.

Dallas Stars vs Los Angeles Kings Preview: 1. Move on without Oettinger

It was announced on Monday that Jake Oettinger would be reevaluated in a week after getting hurt against the New York Rangers. If you remember watching that game, the Stars were in complete shambles after he went down. The New York Rangers took advantage of that and won the game 6-3. Jake Oettinger would want the team to move on while he recovers. The Stars have to do that if they want to maintain first place in the Central Division.
