The Dallas Stars welcome the Chicago Blackhawks to the American Airlines Center tonight. The Stars need to rebound after losing in OT to the Avalanche Monday night. Even though the Chicago Blackhawks are in second to last place in the Central Division, the Stars can’t take them lightly. They have been our rival for years and the records go out the window in a rivalry game. Let’s see if the Stars can defend home ice against our rivals. Here are the three keys to the game against Chicago.
Dallas Stars vs Chicago Blackhawks Preview: 3. Stay out of the penalty box
The Stars have got to stop committing five or more penalties during games. The Stars had a good shot of winning in OT Monday until Mason Marchment was called for a penalty. It forced the Stars to have to be on the penalty kill for the rest of OT. If the Stars can stay off the penalty kill, they are a pretty good team. There are ways to be aggressive on defense without drawing penalties. Hopefully, we don’t see Jani Hakanpaa trip a Blackhawks player in front of the head official tonight.
Dallas Stars vs Chicago Blackhawks Preview: 2. Let’s see what Fredrik Karlstrom can do
The Dallas Stars recalled Fredrik Karlstrom from the Texas Stars late Tuesday. Karlstrom is a defensive minded forward that is having success down in Cedar Park so far this season. Even though he has 5 points (four goals one assist), he is ranked third on the team in goals. He is also is second in shots on goal with the Texas Stars with 34. I would like to see how he does with Fredrik does with Wyatt Johnston and Ty Dellandrea on a line together.
Dallas Stars vs Chicago Blackhawks Preview: 1. Got to win against struggling teams
The Stars have a perfect chance to get a win against a really struggling Blackhawks team. You have to take advantage against struggling teams in the NHL when you have the chance. It’s an easy two points and it will get the Stars ready for the Winnipeg Jets Friday.
