The Dallas Stars had a really successful first duck hunt of the season on Thursday night. They were able to shoot down five ducks to beat Anaheim 5-0. If the NHL media isn’t paying attention to Jason Robertson after tonight, there are some issues with them. He recorded his third career hat trick with his parents in the stands. Wyatt Johnston is starting to catch the “scoring disease” from that top line. Here are the three takeaways from last nights matchup with the Ducks.
Dallas Stars vs Anaheim Ducks Recap: 3. Wyatt Johnston Calder talks?
Wyatt Johnston might have caught a scoring disease from Robertson cause he’s starting to heat up. He has three goals in his last four games including the game against the Ducks. He was getting some good scoring chances against the Ducks tonight. He’s got to learn to elevate the puck when he has the goalie beat. I know that he will learn that as he continues to develop in this league. Could he start creeping in talks for the Calder Trophy for top rookie of the NHL?
Dallas Stars vs Anaheim Ducks Recap: 2. Otter back to his old self
Jake Oettinger had a really solid game stopping 31 shots tonight in net for his 2nd shutout of the season. I think that he is back to his old self after getting that injury early on in the season. Some fans probably won’t count this as a win considering it was against the Anaheim Ducks who are projected to be in the top three of the NHL draft next year. He needed this shutout to get that confidence back. I think thats a win in my book, hopefully he can shutout the Wild Sunday.
Dallas Stars vs Anaheim Ducks Recap: 1. Jason Robertson isn’t human
Robertson sure did send a message to those Canadians who said he would be a “second choice” for the Hart Trophy this season. Robertson scored a hat trick tonight and extended his point streak to 17 games. The Dallas Stars media is out of words to describe him and so am I. At seven million a year, Robertson is a steal right now. Just wait until his contract is up in 4 years, he’s going to get north of 10 million. Right now it’s Jason Robertson’s world and Stars fans are living in it.
