The Dallas Stars welcome Krill Kaprizov and the Minnesota Wild into town for a Sunday mid-afternoon game. The Minnesota Wild are the only Central Division team that the Stars haven’t played this season. The Stars will have to deal with Kirill Kaprizov is in the middle of a 12-game point streak right now. I would love to see the Stars end that streak while Jason Robertson continues his. Here are the three keys to the game against the Minnesota Wild.
Dallas Stars vs Minnesota Wild Preview: 3. Get Jason Robertson the puck
If the Stars want any chance against the Minnesota Wild this afternoon, they got to give Robertson the puck. Robertson’s point streak is up to 17 games now and can be extended with a goal or an assist. Pete DeBoer is giving his top line more minutes due to their ability to take over a game. It needs to continue again today against the Wild so the Stars can put the game away early.
Dallas Stars vs Minnesota Wild Preview: 2. Battle of the Calder Trophy nominees
If you all remember from Robertson’s rookie season, Kaprizov won the Calder Trophy over him. This is the biggest matchup of this afternoon’s game against the Wild. I expect both players to play hard and be aggressive in trying to score goals today. Both are trying to keep their point streaks alive. Keep an eye on both players since they both can swing the momentum of the game with a goal.
Dallas Stars vs Minnesota Wild Preview: 1. apply the same defense from the Ducks game
The one thing that has really been inconsistent this year from the Stars is their defense. In one game they are shutting down Connor McDavid and the Oilers and in the next game, they allow 4 or more goals. I know the Ducks are basically going to get a top-four draft pick in next year’s draft. If they can apply the same pressure they did on Trevor Zegras to Kaprizov, The Stars can come out on top this afternoon.
