The Dallas Stars seemed to have shaken off Monday night’s loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. On Tuesday night, Scott Wedgewood and the Stars exorcised the New Jersey Devils 4-1. This was a fantastic road win against one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference right now. What makes the win even sweeter is we won on their home ice and reclaimed first place in the Central Division. Here are the three takeaways from the game against the New Jersey Devils.
Dallas Stars vs New Jersey Devils Recap: 3. Very aggressive game tonight
The Stars came out of the gate aggressively in the second period and it was one of the difference makers last night. They got plenty of good shot attempts and were able to get some to go in. Ty Dellandrea opened the scoring up for the Stars with a deflection in front of Akira Schmid. The second goal of the game came at the end of the second period when Roope Hintz saw the puck and poked it in with one second remaining on the clock.
Dallas Stars vs New Jersey Devils Recap: 2. Very impressive game from Wedgewood
Scott Wedgewood delivered in the best way possible tonight. He was sharp between the pipes and kept the puck out of the net multiple times. By the end of the game against the Devils, he had enough blockbuster saves to be put into a highlight reel. It all started midway in the first period when he sprawled out to stop a last-minute shot from going in the net. With the way he played tonight, might as well let him continue that momentum and start Thursday.
Dallas Stars vs New Jersey Devils Recap: 1. Month of Roope Hintz?
Last month it was Jason Robertson stealing the spotlight. Could Roope Hintz go on a point streak here in the month of December? So far he has scored two goals in the last two games for the Stars. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Hintz started having a scoring spree. Let’s see if he can make his point streak three games as the Stars take on Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals Thursday night.
