The Dallas Stars look to wrap up their road trip on a positive note in Columbus, Ohio with a win against the Blue Jackets Monday. After coming back and getting a point against the Hurricanes on Saturday night, the Stars need to separate themselves from the Winnipeg Jets as they are only one point behind the Stars. The Columbus Blue Jackets are in last place in the Metropolitan Division so this should be a slam dunk for the Dallas Stars.
Dallas Stars vs Columbus Blue Jackets Preview: 3. Silence the Canon
The Blue Jackets have a really annoying Civil War replica canon that I don’t want to hear get fired off tomorrow night. Boone Jenner, Johnny Gaudreau, and Patrick Laine are going to try and make sure that goes off once tomorrow night. The Stars defense has got to shut down those three scorers if they want to come out victorious tomorrow night.
Dallas Stars vs Columbus Blue Jackets Preview: 2. Get out to an early lead
We can’t afford to get into an early deficit tomorrow night against the Blue Jackets. I can’t stand to see another come-from-behind attempt in the third period again. The Stars need to bury the puck into the net. I’m just not talking to our top line, I’m talking to all four lines. All of them have to contribute in order for the Stars to be dominant. We can’t just ride the success of Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson.
Dallas Stars vs Columbus Blue Jackets Preview: 1. Jason Robertson needs to get going again
I just had a hunch after that huge point streak that Robertson was going to have a scoring drought. The Stars are going to have to ask him to find his scoring abilities ASAP. The Stars need him to be dominant again. It seemed whenever he got on the board first, it sparked the team to add to that lead. I like how on the power play they are putting him at the blue line to rip one-timers at the net. Maybe the Stars can create some new plays that can help unlock his scoring again.
