The Dallas Stars will be on the big stage as they welcome the Edmonton Oilers into town tonight. Both teams will be playing on national TV in front of a huge audience tuning in across the United States. The Stars need to get over the hump with their national TV game woes. Tonight would be a perfect night to change course and surprise hockey fans tuning in. Let’s see if they can stop the Edmonton Oilers on home ice tonight. Here are the three keys to the game against the Oilers.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Preview: 3. Get over the national TV hump

The Stars seem to not do so well when the whole United States is watching them play. They haven’t done well recently when they get picked to be on national TV. The Stars need to get over that now because if they do well, they will be on national TV more during the playoffs. The Stars can definitely send a message to the hockey community tonight with a win against the Oilers.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Preview: 2. Shut down Draisaitl and McDavid

I think Stars fans already know what the Stars need to do when play the Oilers; shut down Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid. The defense will definitely have their hands full against these two guys tonight. Of course we all know McDavid leads the league in scoring with 28 goals. His “Robin” Leon Draisaitl is right behind him with 21 goals this season. Got to shut these two down if the Stars want a chance against the Oilers.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Preview: 1. Pray Jack Campbell is in goal tonight

If I’m the Stars offense, I’m praying right now that Jack Campbell is starting in goal tonight for the Oilers. Right now, he is giving up four goals a game and has a .876 save percentage. Those are not good stats if you are a goalie in the NHL. The Stars need to capitalize and blitz him if he starts in net tonight. Forget passing the puck eight times before taking a shot, keep firing it on net and get the rebound.
