Dallas Stars look to finish out 2022 starting with a win in Nashville

The Dallas Stars kick off their three remaining 2022 games in Nashville tonight against the Predators. The Stars gave their fans an early Christmas present last Friday night with a win over the Montreal Canadiens. The Predators lost to the Colorado Avalanche in overtime in their last game before Christmas. It’s going to be another Central Division slugfest matchup between these two teams tonight. Here are the three keys to the game against the Nashville Predators.

Dallas Stars vs Nashville Predators Preview: 3. Wyatt Johnston’s emergence

Dallas Stars rookie Wyatt Johnston is quietly having a great rookie season. He scored his first-ever career goal against the Nashville Predators.  So far Johnston has 10 goals this season and is on a three-game scoring streak right now. The Stars need him to be productive tonight against the Nashville Predators. The Predators will probably be focused on shutting down Dallas’s top line tonight. Let’s see if Johnston can extend his scoring streak to 4 tonight on the road in Nashville.

Dallas Stars vs Nashville Predators Preview: 2. Shut down Nino Niederreiter and Matt Duchene

Duchene and Niederreiter are more than likely going to give the Stars problems tonight. Niederriter is their top scorer with 11 goals followed by Duchene at 10. The Dallas defense has to be ready to shut them down tonight. They can’t allow these two players to get set up in the Dallas zone and get shots on whoever is the goalie tonight for Dallas. If Niederreiter or Duchene gets a goal tonight and gets the crowd going, going to be a very long night for Dallas.

Dallas Stars vs Nashville Predators Preview: 1. Throw away the trash

The Stars really need to beat the Predators tonight and let me to you why. With the way, Winnipeg is playing right now and the emergence of the Minnesota Wild recently, the Stars need to continue to separate themselves from the rest of the division. With two points here tonight, the Stars can continue to separate themselves from the rest of the Central Division.
