The Dallas Stars look to turn the page towards 2023 with a win against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night. Victory Park will be turned up as they will be celebrating New Years Eve outside while the game is going on. Why not add to the party with a Stars win? Wyatt Johnston will be looking to add to his goal total after tying for first for goals scored by rookies against the Wild Thursday night. Here are the three keys to the game against the Sharks on New Years Eve.

Dallas Stars vs San Jose Sharks Preview: 3. Keep Johnston’s line together

Pete DeBoer needs to keep the Benn-Johnston-Marchment line together since they seem to be playing really well with each other. Johnston seems to have chemistry with both players and it’s helping him break out. As I mentioned above, Johnston is tied for first among rookies in goal scoring with 11 goals this season. He is expected to score a lot more as the second half of the season right around the corner.

Dallas Stars vs San Jose Sharks Preview: 2. Stop Timo Meier and Logan Couture

The Stars defense needs to focus their attention towards shutting down Timo Meier and Logan Couture tonight. Unlike the Minnesota Wild who really only had one decent goal scorer in Krill Kaprizov, the Sharks have these two players. Meier leads the Sharks 20 goals and 17 assists so far this season. Couture is right behind him with 14 goals and 16 assists. If the Stars can lock down these two, I have no doubt the celebration at Victory Park will be twice as lit with a Stars win.

Dallas Stars vs San Jose Sharks Preview: 1. Give Wedgewood a start

Jake Oettinger has played a lot of games recently and this game would be perfect for Scott Wedgewood to start. Oettinger was phenomenal playing in front of his family and friends in Minnesota and deserves a break tonight. Wedgewood can get the job done at the American Airlines Center tonight and ring in 2023 the right way with a victory over the Sharks.
