The Dallas Stars return home to take on the Calgary Flames Saturday afternoon at the American Airlines Center. This is a quick stop before they go back out to the west coast next week. It’s NASA Day tomorrow so if you are going to the game, expect a “space-like environment.” The Stars look to get back on track after the painful loss to the New York Rangers on Thursday night. Hopefully, the Stars can get that loss out of their system and send the Calgary Flames into space.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Preview: 3. Score more than one goal

Hopefully, the Stars can get more than one goal today against the Calgary Flames. We can’t rely on our top line scoring a goal and then quit the remainder of the game. That was last year’s team and I’m sure DeBoer won’t tolerate a second game like that. The Stars have to get back to pounding the puck at the net and getting rebounds past the goaltender. Calgary isn’t going to take it easy on the Stars and I know they won’t give us a one-goal head start.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Preview: 2. Shut down Nazem Kadri and Tyler Toffoli

The Stars need to focus their defensive efforts on shutting down Kadri and Toffoli Saturday afternoon. Currently, Kadri leads the Calgary Flames with 16 goals and Toffoli is right behind in second with 15 goals. I’ve gone back and watched some highlights from this year and when these two score goals for Calgary, it ignites the team. If the Stars can shut down and suppress these two players, the Stars have a good chance of winning this afternoon.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Preview: 1. Send them into space with a blowout win

After losing to the Calgary Flames in Game 7 of the 2022 NHL Playoffs, there’s nothing more I would like than to see them get blown out. I’m talking about the Stars dropping a five-goal game on the Flames Saturday afternoon. We need to remind them that they aren’t in Calgary anymore. They are in Texas and we plan to defend our home ice on Saturday. It would be fitting with the theme if the Stars could “send them into space.”
