The Dallas Stars took care of the Coyotes sightings in Dallas tonight and the residents could return to their usual Saturday night activities. The Stars got off to a quick start tonight and the rest was history. The Stars would go on to shut out the Coyotes 4-0 as they get their third shutout in four games. Ironically each of those shutouts ended up being 4-0. Stars fans should go buy a lottery ticket after last night’s win. Here are the three takeaways of the game for the Stars against the Coyotes.
Dallas Stars vs Arizona Coyotes Recap: 3. Wyatt Johnston finally broke his goal skid
Wyatt Johnston finally broke his goal skid and scored his 12th goal of the season against the Coyotes last night. The goal came as the puck went off his stick and over Connor Ingram’s goalie glove. Joe Pavelski was more than likely proud of how Johnston scored that goal. Let’s get that Calder Trophy campaign going again for Johnston.
Dallas Stars vs Arizona Coyotes Recap: 2. Defense was on point tonight
The Stars’ defense was perfect and shut down the Coyotes’ offense tonight. The Stars’ penalty kill unit made sure that the Coyotes didn’t capitalize on their power play tonight. Some of the defensive effort tonight does have to go to Jake Oettinger who I will get to in just a second in the next paragraph. Now, let’s hope the Stars’ defense can continue this amazing play on Monday night when the Buffalo Sabres arrive in Dallas.
Dallas Stars vs Arizona Coyotes Recap: 1. OtterMania
Jake Oettinger was on one tonight and deserved the huge chant that echoed throughout the crowd. With Oettinger earning his fourth shutout of the season last night, he takes over second place in the league for shutout wins with four. Jake Oettinger also moves into second place for save percentage as well with a .926 save percentage. It’s a crying shame that our goaltender will not be attending the All-Star game in Florida for his hard work.
