The Dallas Stars look to get revenge on an Eastern Conference foe that Stars’ Fans might remember. The Stars welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning to town for a Saturday Afternoon showdown at the American Airlines Center. It’s going to be a battle of the goaltenders this afternoon as it will most likely be Andrei Vasilevskiy vs Jake Oettinger. I expect some fireworks to fly out on the ice this afternoon. Here are the three keys of the game for the Stars against the Lightning.
Dallas Stars vs Tampa Bay Lightning Recap: 3. Fire at will against Andrei Vasilevskiy
The Stars are going up against one of the best goaltenders in the Eastern Conference this season, Andrei Vasilevskiy. It seems the only way teams have been able to score on him this season is by firing the puck multiple times on the net and getting rebounds. The Stars need to focus on this while they are in Tampa Bay’s zone this afternoon. Being able to finish off rebounds will really help the Stars against him this afternoon.
Dallas Stars vs Tampa Bay Lightning Recap: 2. Shut down Brayden Point and Steven Stamkos
The Stars’ defense will have their hands full today trying to contain Brayden Point and Steven Stamkos. Going into this matchup, Brayden Point leads the Lightning in goals with 32 goals. Stamkos is right behind him with 24 goals so far this season. The Stars have gone up against these guys in the past so they know what they are in for this afternoon. If the defense can protect Oettinger and shut down these guys from making shots, the Stars will more than likely win this afternoon.
Dallas Stars vs Tampa Bay Lightning Recap: 1. Split the season series
The Stars need to do everything in their power in order to split the season series on Saturday afternoon. After the Lightning won the Stanley Cup against the Stars in six games, they think they own the Stars on the ice. I know Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin want some revenge and to get respect. That is why the Stars really need to win this afternoon to show the Lightning that we are the true top team in the Western Conference this season.
