After coming off a huge win in a shootout with the Vegas Golden Knights, the Dallas Stars welcome the Vancouver Canucks to the American Airlines Center. The Stars need to keep racking up the wins to gain momentum going into the game against the Colorado Avalanche next weekend. The Stars have also got to keep winning as well to keep their chances for the Central Division title alive. Here are the three keys for tonight’s game against the Vancouver Canucks.

Dallas Stars vs Vancouver Canucks Preview: 3. Fix the power play

The Stars have got to fix the power play in order for them to be successful down the stretch. The Golden Knights were able to kill off a double minor and a key 5-on-3 power play. They have got to abandon the redirect in front of the net and attack it. Just forget trying to set up Joe Pavelski in front of the net. Find someone with a shooting lane and let them send the puck flying at their goalie. I don’t care who it is, just someone start scoring on the power play.

Dallas Stars vs Vancouver Canucks Preview: 2. Stop Elias Pettersson and Andrei Kuzmenko

These are two Canucks players that the Stars must stop on offense if they want a chance at winning tonight. Elias Pettersson leads the Canucks this season with 28 goals and Kuzmenko is right behind him with 27 goals. I don’t care which defenseman is on him as long it’s not Joel Hanley. I want to see both of these players get checked into the boards multiple times throughout the game. I don’t care if the Stars have to take a penalty in order to stop these two players from scoring.

Dallas Stars vs Vancouver Canucks Preview: 1. Give a warm welcome to Evgenii Dadonov

For those who missed the trade bombshell that took place on Sunday morning, the Stars have a new player. The Stars traded Denis Gurianov for Evgenii Dadonov. We thank Gurianov for all his contributions to the Stars organization and wish him all the best with his new team. Dadonov has played under DeBoer’s system before so this should speed his transition with the team up a lot. If you are at the game tonight, make sure you give him a huge cheer when he takes the ice for warmups.
