Dallas Stars have a successful Coyote hunt in Dallas last night
After going 0-3-2 at home in the last five home games, the Stars got some luck tonight. The Stars had a successful coyote hunt in Dallas last night beating the Arizona Coyotes 4-2. The Stars scored four unanswered goals after going down 2-0 early on in the first period. Once Roope Hintz got that first goal, the Stars were off to the races. They would go on to shut down the Coyotes in regulation and pick up two points. Here are the three takeaways from the game last night.
Dallas Stars vs Arizona Coyotes Recap: 3. The Stars recovered from a bad start
What could have been another home loss to a sub .500 team this year, the Stars flipped the script. The Stars were able to shake off the bad start in the first period and win in regulation. They could have just drooped their heads and “went through the motions” tonight. I loved the response from the Stars tonight. It shows that they still care how they finish up this season in a very narrow Western Conference. Only five points separate having a good seed or one of the Wildcard spots.
Dallas Stars vs Arizona Coyotes Recap: 2. Tyler Seguin stepped up
When the Stars needed a game from one of their veterans tonight, Tyler Seguin rose to the occasion. Seguin’s three point night helped the Stars big time tonight. We even got to see a little vintage Seguin tonight as he blasted a one-timer from the red circle. We are going to need some more multi-point games from him and Benn if they want to have a deep playoff run this April. This was his 44th three point game with the Dallas Stars.
Dallas Stars vs Arizona Coyotes Recap: 1. Wyatt Johnston is stepping up
Wyatt Johnston has done a lot of growing up this season. With Joel Kiviranta and Luke Glendening out with injuries right now, he has filled in on the penalty kill. He did amazing on the penalty kill tonight. Johnston is going to be a huge part of the franchise moving forward. Hopefully, he can continue to contribute as they take on the Chicago Blackhawks later tonight.
