Dallas Stars welcome tired Pittsburgh Penguins tonight at the AAC
The Dallas Stars really have no excuses to not come away with a win tonight. They will be taking on a very tired Pittsburgh Penguins team tonight. They have played three games in the last five days, one of them last night against Central Division foe the Colorado Avalanche. The Stars need to get two points here tonight, there is no excuse. If they can’t take care of a tired playoff team, they might as well get the golf clubs out since they won’t last long in the playoffs.
Dallas Stars vs Pittsburgh Penguins Preview: 3. Got to take advantage of a tired team
The Stars have got to take advantage of teams that have played multiple games in a short amount of time. The Penguins will be running on “coffee” tonight after beating the Avalanche last night on the road. With the Stars having a day off to rest, there should be a day and night difference between the two teams tonight. Hopefully, the Stars are the team that is alert and ready. If the Stars can’t handle this team tonight, might as well hand over the Central Division to Minnesota.
Dallas Stars vs Pittsburgh Penguins Preview: 2. Shut down Guentzel and Crosby
The Stars need to be ready to shut down Jake Guentzel and Sidney Crosby tonight. I’m sure that they won’t be at the usual playing level that they have been in the last week but still have to prepare for them. Guentzel and Crosby lead the team in goals going into this matchup. I hate to tell Miro to play another 39 minutes tonight but he might have to in order to get the win tonight. If the Stars can’t shut down both of these guys, it will be a very long night for fans at the AAC.
Dallas Stars vs Pittsburgh Penguins: 1. Keep the Johnston scoring streak going
I would like to see Pete DeBoer give Wyatt Johnston some more minutes tonight to keep his scoring streak alive. Johnston has scored in his last five games and the Stars will need him tonight if they want to walk away with a dub tonight. Johnston needs to be set up like he was in the previous game against the Seattle Kraken where he had that wide-open net to fire at. I’m sure that setting Johnston will be a part of the game plan tonight against Pittsburgh.
