The Dallas Stars continue one of their final road trips of the regular season tonight on Arizona State’s Campus. They will be taking on the Arizona Coyotes for the final time this season. With Jake Oettinger getting the nod tonight as the starting goalie, there is only one thing left that is a concern. That concern is keeping Wyatt Johnston away from the sorority row. he seems like the type that likes to crash some Friday night parties. Here are the three keys of the game tonight against the Coyotes.
Dallas Stars vs Arizona Coyotes Preview: 3. Get the two points
The Stars need to get two points here tonight, plain and simple. With each win that the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche get means the Stars will not get that coveted 1st seed in the playoffs. They need to attack Arizona’s goaltender tonight early and often. I’ve seen the Stars rack up some big wins against the Coyotes this season so this should be an easy win. Let’s get Jake Oettinger another “rest” tonight and get two points.
Dallas Stars vs Arizona Coyotes Preview: 2. Stop Clayton Keller and Lawson Crouse
It should come as no surprise to Stars fans that Clayton Keller and Lawson Crouse are the top two players on the Arizona Coyotes roster. Keller and Crouse lead the Coyotes in goals scored this season, first and second respectively. The Stars’ defense will have their hands full tonight trying to stop them and spoil the Star’s chances of reclaiming first in the Central Division. If the Stars can shut down these two players, Stars will walk out of here with two points tonight.
Dallas Stars vs Arizona Coyotes Preview: 1. Make Otter’s job easy tonight
There is light at the end of the tunnel as Scott Wedgewood was sent down to the Texas Stars for a rehab assignment this weekend. Jake Oettinger will probably break the tradition of resting on the back end of a back-to-back. There’s no way Pete DeBoer will feed Matt Murray to the wolves tomorrow against the Avalanche. The Stars just need to do what they did in Chicago and make Otter’s night easy. We will need a fully rested Otter tomorrow against Colorado.
