The Dallas Stars look to continue their quest to wrap up the Central Division title tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers. Even though the Flyers are out of the playoff picture completely, you can’t take tonight’s game as an automatic win.

They still want to cause some playoff havoc by ruining other team’s playoff positions. I expect this Flyers team to come into the American Airlines Center and compete tonight. Let’s take a look at what the Stars need to do in order to get another two points toward their quest for the Central Division title.

Dallas Stars vs Philadelphia Flyers Preview: 3. be ready to replace Roope Hintz’s offense in the lineup tonight

As of now, it looks like Roope Hintz is a game-time decision against the Flyers. I thought he was out of the game since he wasn’t at practice this morning. However, Pete DeBoer said they will see how he does during warmups tonight before making the decision. Saad Yousuf tweeted out the lines that were put together at the morning skate. He also mentioned that if Roope needs some games off, Tyler Seguin can slide right into the top-line duties.

Dallas Stars vs Philadelphia Flyers Preview: 2. Stop Travis Konecny

The Stars need to focus their defensive efforts tonight against Travis Konecny tonight. Going into this matchup against the Stars, he leads the Flyers in goals with 29 goals and 27 assists. The Stars need to make sure he doesn’t touch the puck in their zone tonight. If the Stars can contain him and makes sure he doesn’t touch the puck, the Stars should walk away with two points.

Dallas Stars vs Philadelphia Flyers Preview: 1. Rest players for the playoffs

One of the biggest things that we will see the Stars do is start to rest players for the first round. Jake Oettinger won’t be getting any rest tonight since he is starting tonight against the Flyers. However, an injured player like Hintz deserves some time off to heal up for the first round. We will need all hands on deck for the playoffs. I would hate to see one of our players get hurt in a meaningless game like tonight. if they need some time to recover, give them the time to recover.
