Dallas Stars look playoff ready in the 2-1 win over the Golden Knights
The Dallas Stars had one of their final preparations for the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs today against the Vegas Golden Knights. The Stars needed to show the Western Conference that this year’s squad wasn’t going to be a one-and-done like last year.
Everyone pitched in and they came out on top against the Golden Knights 2-1 in a shootout. I’ll get to it down below but Jake Oettinger made an amazing save that will be on the SportsCenter Top Ten countdown on Monday. Just when you thought he couldn’t top a highlight save, he goes out and does it in the biggest game of the season. Let’s take a look back at the huge win at the American Airlines Center against the Golden Knights.
Dallas Stars vs Golden Knights Recap: 3. Cause for Concern
I hate to start off the recap like this but it needs to be addressed. The top line was basically shut down again today against another playoff opponent. You have to give credit to the Golden Knights coaches for their game plan against the Star’s top line. I hope that our first round opponent doesn’t watch the film from today cause they could potentially send the Stars packing early. We will need the top line to help with the offensive production if we want to make the Stanley Cup Finals.
Dallas Stars vs Golden Knights Recap: 2. Stars need to have Johnston set up the offense more
The one thing that you have to like after this game is Wyatt Johnston continues to show his ability to produce offense. The one thing I wrote down in my notes is the number of times that he was able to get plays set up in the Golden Knight’s zone. NHL teams better be ready for when Logan Stankoven joins the club next season. Stankoven and Johnston are going to be literal pains in the rear on the ice setting up plays.
Dallas Stars vs Golden Knights Recap: 1. Oettinger with the save heard around the world
This is Jake Oettinger’s world and we are just living in it. I’m out of adjectives and gifs to describe the larceny shootout save he made to give us two points. I mean I thought it went in the goal and we were about to go to a fourth round in the shootout. Just check it out below this paragraph.
I believe the city of Dallas should start a go fund me account to help fund his next contract. It’s going to be over 10 million a year if he keeps playing the way that he does. It will be interesting to see if he gets in one more game this week. Let’s hope it’s the game where we clinch the Central Division.
