Before you keep reading this game preview, this is not the team that we will be facing off against in the first round. We are at the point in the season where the Dallas Stars have started their focus on their playoff journey.
They are going up against a Western Conference powerhouse, the Vegas Golden Knights. Right now they are the top team in the Western Conference and it’s going to be a playoff game today. The Stars aren’t playing a “Weenie Hut Junior” opponent like the Philadelphia Flyers. This will be a huge test for the Stars and they need this win to keep up with Colorado for the Central Division Title.
Dallas Stars vs Vegas Golden Knights Preview: 3. Show them they have competition in the playoffs
The Stars need to demonstrate to the Golden Knights that they will have some competition in the playoffs this year. The Stars have come too far to bow out in the first round of the playoffs. They need to go out on the ice this afternoon and let them know we want the Stanley Cup as badly as you do and you will have to go through Dallas.
Dallas Stars vs Vegas Golden Knights Preview: 2. Stop Jonathan Marchessault and Jack Eichel
Both Jack Eichel and Jonathan Marchessault are tied for the leading goal scorer for the Golden Knights with 27 goals apiece. I can’t wait to see how Thomas Harley handles this huge test today. This will determine if he remains on the team going into the playoffs or if he goes back to Cedar Park for the AHL Playoffs. If the Stars can hold off both of these guys from scoring today, this will be a huge confidence boost going into the first round.
Dallas Stars vs Vegas Golden Knights Preview: 1. We need Ricky Bobby Otter today
We need the very confident “Ricky Bobby” Jake Oettinger today if he has a shot today against the Golden Knights. He has played a lot of games this season and he has done a good job against the playoff teams. The team needs to still help him out in the Dallas zone but if we get the “Ricky Bobby” Otter, it’s going to be a long day for the Golden Knights.
