The Dallas Stars kick off their final road trip of the regular season tonight in Detroit taking on the Red Wings. The Stars must continue winning as the Colorado Avalanche is right behind them in the standings.

The Anaheim Ducks almost did us a solid last night by beating them but ultimately fell in OT. The Stars have a narrow tiebreaker over the Avalanche and Wild, so they must keep the wins coming even though they already clinched their playoff spot. Let’s take a look at tonight’s matchup in Detroit against the Red Wings.

We are playing the Detroit Red Wings and their defense can be horrible if the other team crashes the net. The Stars have to do that in order to get goals early and put this game away quickly. You cannot allow the Red Wings to hang around and have a chance to win the game. Look at how Pittsburgh took care of them a while ago. Set the tempo early and put the Red Wings to bed early.

The Stars have to stop Dylan Larkin tonight if they want to have a chance at winning against the Red Wings. Going into this matchup tonight, Larkin has 32 goals and 46 assists this season. He can hurt you by putting the puck in the net or setting one of his teammates up. Miro Heiskanen needs to be alert to where he is on the ice at all times. One goal by Dylan Larkin tonight could cause a huge momentum shift in the game.

Dallas Stars vs Detroit Red Wings Preview: 1. Just win by any means

I don’t care how the Stars win tonight whether that’s by a blowout or we sneak by. They just need to keep winning if they want to win the Central Division and possibly the Western Conference. They have come too far to just hand over the division to the Avalanche. The Stars have held the division lead for most of this season and it’s time that we reclaim it and win the Division.
