The Dallas Stars tied up the series on Wednesday night at the American Airlines Center. With the series being tied, the Stars head up to the wilderness for games 3 & 4 starting tonight. They have found their offensive stride after missing a bunch of attempts in game 1.

Hopefully, the Stars can replicate that 7-3 win on Wednesday on the road. However, the Stars will more than likely go up against Filip Gustavsson tonight after Marc Andre-Fleury gave up seven goals on Wednesday. Let’s take a look at what the Stars need to do in order to steal a pivotal game 3 on the road up in Minnesota.

Dallas Stars vs Minnesota Wild Preview: 3. Attack early

The Stars definitely did that against the Wild in game 2 at the AAC Wednesday night. Roope Hintz got things going on a breakaway and scored a short-handed goal. Tyler Seguin would also end up scoring in the first period as well. The Stars have got to replicate this on the road if they want a shot at beating the Wild in five games. If you allow the Wild to take the series lead here tonight, we might not see it again.

Dallas Stars vs Minnesota Wild Preview: 2. Get in their heads

It worked in game 2 as well and that is getting in their heads in between puck stoppages. The Stars did a good job not retaliating for what they did to Joe Pavelski and let them shoot themselves in the foot with penalties. The Stars got to keep doing that and let them try to pick fights with them. It got them a bunch of game misconduct penalties and it was fun watching half of their bench emptied in the third period.

Dallas Stars vs Minnesota Wild Preview: 1. Play Texas Hockey defense

The Stars need to go out there tonight and play some tough and gritty Texas Hockey defense. That means constantly checking players into the boards and getting the puck back. I want to see the puck cleared out of the Star’s zone during penalty kills like Wednesday night. The Stars have a good chance of taking the series lead for the first time in the series. Let’s get it done tonight gentleman.
