The Dallas Stars have looked over the tape from game 1 and now look to improve in game 2. The Stars will be taking on the Seattle Kraken in a late hockey game (thanks NHL) at the American Airlines Center tonight. Now before we all get a little crazy after losing game one in OT Monday, the Stars did the same thing and went on to win the series. The playoffs are a marathon, not a sprint. If the Stars want to be lifting the Stanley Cup this season, they have to treat it as such.
Dallas Stars vs Seattle Kraken: 3. Cut the little mistakes out
The Stars got caught off guard by the Kraken in the first period and it shouldn’t happen again tonight. I think the Stars thought they were going to get a fatigued Seattle Kraken team in game 1 and it turned out to be quite the opposite. The Stars have to be clean with their puck movement against the Kraken. You also can’t allow them to get rebounds right in front of Jake Oettinger as well. Clean puck movement could be a key to the Stars advancing to the Western Conference Finals.
Dallas Stars vs Seattle Kraken: 2. Everyone contributes
The one thing that needs to happen tonight is the Stars making sure that everyone contributes to the goal-scoring. Joe Pavelski can’t provide all the goals tonight as he did in game 1 on Monday. Jamie Benn has to contribute as well as Tyler Seguin does as well. We can’t afford to get behind 2-0 in the series. If we can get some balanced scoring tonight, I like our odds of splitting games on home ice.
Dallas Stars vs Seattle Kraken: 1. Ricky Bobby Otter
I would really like to see Oettinger put that four-goal game in the past and get back to being a prime otter tonight. He was unconscious between the pipes against the Minnesota Wild and he just had a bad Monday night. I have no worries that he can bounce back in game 2 tonight against the Kraken.
