Dallas Stars look to retry storming the fortress in Game 2 Sunday
The Dallas Stars fought back against the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 1 of the series forcing OT. However, it was short-lived when the Golden Knights ended the game around two minutes into the extra period. Now the Stars look to split the games on the road as they take on the Golden Knights in Game 2 this afternoon. All the Stars really need to do is tidy up some of the little mistakes they made in Game 1. Let’s take a look at what the Stars need to do in order to win Game 2 tonight.
Dallas Stars vs Vegas Golden Knights Preview: 3. Better puck handling
The Stars need to have better puck handling in Game 2 and for the remainder of the series. The Golden Knights were able to read what the Stars were doing and forced turnovers that could have resulted in goals. If the Stars can clean up the puck handling and make better passes this afternoon, they have a good shot at winning game 2. However, if they continue making the same passes as in Game 1, the Stars could be looking at a big hole to climb out of.
Dallas Stars vs Vegas Golden Knights Preview: 2. Faster start
The Stars were super slow coming out of the gate on Friday night. I was at the Rangers game and couldn’t believe my eyes at the Shots on Goal total early on in the game. The Stars need to blitz Adin Hill and force the puck into the net early on in the first period today. It’s time that the Stars became more aggressive instead of passive. Let’s storm the gates and build that early lead for Jake Oettinger.
Dallas Stars vs Vegas Golden Knights Preview: 1. Don’t fall into a 2-0 hole
The Stars can’t afford to fall into a 2-0 hole against the Vegas Golden Knights. The last thing that the Stars need to do is be fighting uphill against them at home next week. The Stars need to do everything in their power to avoid this happening. Players need to sacrifice their bodies to block shots and force turnovers. If the Stars do fall into a 2-0 hole, tying the series up at home seems really impossible against this healthy Golden Knights team.
