At this point, the Dallas Stars are truly in trouble in the Western Conference Finals against the Vegas Golden Knights. In this whole entire 2023 post-season, the Stars have been struggling in so many different categories, but the most common of said categories would be overtime, the good old-fashioned OT. They just can’t seem to capitalize on those final waking moments. Coach Pete DeBoer is weighing in on exactly what he thinks is going wrong with his beloved team.

What’s going on with Pete DeBoer’s Dallas Stars in overtime?

In one of the Stars’ most recent games against the Knights, it only took the Knights to score just 100 seconds into overtime basically giving the Stars no time to even try to take control and win said game. Now, the Dallas Stars are officially 3-0 in the 2023 Western Conference Finals and they just aren’t looking good…at all.

Across the NHL as a whole in general, up to the point of Game 2, all of the Conference Final games have been decided in OT.

When talking about how his team has been struggling, Pete DeBoer had this to say all about it after Game 2:

"“We’ve been a really good first- and third-period team all year…We haven’t been a good second-period team. It’s a long change in overtime, and we haven’t been a good overtime team. Is there something there to that? I think there is. That’s probably a deeper dive in the offseason than a quick fix between Games 2 and 3 here.”"

The reason why DeBoer even mentioned the whole idea of the long change is that in Game 2, Chandler Stephenson’s game-winning goal OT goal came smack-dab in the middle of a super rough change for the Stars.

Unfortunately, with the Stars being down 3-0 in the series, it’s so difficult to imagine them winning the next four games in order to win the series in one of the biggest comebacks of the 2023 season ever. Of course, as a Stars fan, you want to wish them the best and have the most faith in them, but the future’s looking pretty grim at this point. Even with a Game 4 win, it’s not over, the Stars wouldn’t have won yet, they still would need three more after that. If you’re also a Dallas Stars fan much like me, then continue to keep your head held up high and tune in with me for Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals series that’s set to begin/happen on Thursday, May 25th, 2023 at 7:00 PM CST on ESPN and ESPN+.

That’s a wrap on Pete DeBoer’s thoughts on how his Dallas Stars are doing and their future!
