As we continue our 2023 NHL Draft Profile series on possible prospects, let’s take a look at other positions that the Dallas Stars could fill with pick 61. With the amount of talent that is in this draft, the Stars could also turn their attention to drafting a left or right wing. There is one particular wing that should be considered by the Stars, Andrew Cristall. He is another high IQ player that would be like having another Jason Robertson on the ice. Let’s take a look at him and see where he fits in with the Stars.

Dallas Stars NHL Draft Pofile Andrew Cristall: Junior Hockey

Cristall has been lighting up the score sheet with the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL over the last couple of seasons. In 2021-22 he finished the season with 28 goals and 41 assists. In 2022-23, he finished with 39 goals and 56 assists. He doesn’t have a really good postseason record as he has a combined one goal and four assists in the playoffs. It’s really not that surprising due to the amount of talent that the WHL has in the playoffs every season.

Dallas Stars NHL Draft Pofile Andrew Cristall: Where he would fit in with the Stars?

Cristall would probably fit with the top line or second line, which ever line needs a scoring boost. His high IQ that he has is really going to make a difference on the ice. He is selfless and is not afraid to pass up on a scoring oppertunity for himself. He reminds me alot of Jason Robertson and how he plays with Pavelski and Sons. His passing ability is just as good as Robertson’s and will find a way to get the puck to the open teammate.

Dallas Stars NHL Draft Pofile Andrew Cristall: Conclusion

It would be awhile before we saw Andrew Cristall due to his age and ability to be stashed in Junior Hockey. Unless he competely stuns the coaching staff, he would continue to develop with the Kelowna Rockets. I think with how well our scouting staff has been finding gems, it would be worth the gamble even doesn’t end up skating for the Stars in his career.
