Dallas Stars go Coyote hunting in south Texas tonight
After a long and tedious offseason, fans can be happy to know that preseason hockey is back in the state of Texas tonight. That’s right, the Dallas Stars will be taking on the Arizona Coyotes at the H-E-B Center tonight at 5:00 to kick off their preseason slate. I hope that the fans down in Cedar Park at least get to see some of the Dallas Stars players in action tonight since they live so far from Dallas. Let’s go over the three keys of the game tonight against the Arizona Coyotes.
Dallas Stars vs. Arizona Coyotes: 3. Stop Logan Cooley
The first order of business tonight is to stop Logan Cooley from going off on the Stars. I’m sure you all saw the amazing highlight-reel goal from their preseason game in Australia. That cannot happen tonight in front of the Stars faithful. I want to see someone covering him 100% of the time when he is on the ice tonight.
Dallas Stars vs. Arizona Coyotes: 2. It’s time to experiment
The good thing about preseason hockey is coaches get to experiment with the prospects to see how they play with each other. I would like to see Pete DeBoer experiment with Logan Stankoven’s linemates throughout the preseason.
Pair him up with players such as Jamie Benn and Wyatt Johnston and see how he plays with both of them. After having a somewhat lackluster prospect tournament performance, let’s see if putting him with actual pro players makes a difference in his performance if he plays tonight.
Dallas Stars vs. Arizona Coyotes: 1. Play some of the Dallas Stars players
I know it’s custom to keep most of your team out of the preseason games just so you have a healthy team for the season. However, the Texas Stars fans deserve to at least see Jake Oettinger play a period or see Pavelski and Sons suit up at least for tonight. They don’t deserve to see what a projected Texas Stars lineup this season. For all those who are attending the game tonight, tag us on Twitter if you post photos and we will retweet some of them after the game.
