Dallas Stars have their only back-to-back test against Colorado Avalanche
The Dallas Stars don’t get to rest after beating the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night. They have to turn it around quickly against the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday night. This will be the only back-to-back test for the Stars this preseason so they have to be ready for it. They will have some of these situations in the regular season so what better way to prepare for it than in the preseason? Let’s take a look at the three keys of the game against the Colorado Avalanche tonight.
Dallas Stars vs. Colorado Avalanche Preview: 3. Got to come out of the gate strong tonight
The Stars need to show that they can handle back-to-back situations and they need to show it tonight. The Stars can’t be slow out of the gate like they did against the Blues last night. The Colorado Avalanche isn’t going to give the Stars all day to score the first goal. The Stars need to live by the words in their locker room tonight by being aggressive out of the gate.
Dallas Stars vs. Colorado Avalanche Preview: 2. Don’t get emotional playing former teammates
The Stars can’t get emotional playing some former teammates tonight. Riley Tufte, Joel Kiviranta, and Tanner Kero could be in the lineup tonight. I know sometimes it’s great to see former teammates on the ice once in a while but this is a business. All three are fighting for a roster spot on the Colorado Avalanche and they aren’t going to take it easy on the Stars. The Stars need to go out there and focus on winning the hockey game tonight before returning home for Tuesday’s game.
Dallas Stars vs. Colorado Avalanche Preview: 1. Put the game out of reach early
I know it’s a preseason game but the Stars need to learn to put the game out of reach early. It’s going to help them win a ton of games next season and win the division. I know a chunk of the roster tonight won’t be there on opening night but I want to see some of the young talent the Stars have get aggressive and help put the game out of reach early. I’m interested to see how the Stars try to tackle that tonight against the Avalanche.
