The Dallas Stars don’t get a day off between games this week. They take on the Edmonton Oilers tonight up in Edmonton as they continue their early-season Canadian road trip. While the Oilers might not have Connor McDavid in their lineup tonight, they are still a very good team Leon Draisaitl is just as good as McDavid and can score goals. I’m really interested to see how this team handles a back-to-back game situation. Here are the three keys of the game tonight against the Oilers.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Preview: 3. Win the back end of the back-to-back game

The Dallas Stars are going to have more of these this season so I’m interested to see how they handle the situation at hand tonight. The Stars had some issues last year winning the back end of a back-to-back game situation. However, it’s a brand new season and last year is in the past. Time to focus on what is in front of you and take advantage of the future. A division title could be decided by only a couple of points so every win matters during a season.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Preview: 2. Shut down Draisaitl

The Stars really need to get through the fatigue tonight and shut down Draisaitl from doing any damage to them. While it helps not having to worry about McDavid as well, Darisaitl is just as lethal on his own so they will need to treat him as the franchise player tonight. Miro Heiskanen should see a lot of time shutting him down and making sure he doesn’t get the puck. If the Stars can’t shut him down and prevent him from scoring, It could be a long night ahead of them.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Preview: 1. Take it to them

The Dallas Stars just need to take it to the Oilers tonight. Last year, the Stars did that and they won by a mile on November 5th of last year by a final score of 6-2 on their home ice. Why don’t we just do it again this year and embarrass them again? I really like that plan a lot and they can do it by shutting down their offense and running up the score by a mile. The Stars need to send a statement to the league tonight showing them they mean business this season.
