Dallas Stars look to tame the Boston Bruins on Monday Night Hockey

The Dallas Stars look to shake the rust off after losing to the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night by beating the Boson Bruins tonight. It’s not going to be an easy task to beat the Bruins as they are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. If you remember from last season, they won the President’s Trophy but unfortunately exited the playoffs in the first round. Let’s take a look at the three keys of the game tonight as the Stars take on the Bruins at the American Airlines Center.
Dallas Stars vs. Boston Bruins Preview: 3. Score on the power play
The Stars need to score on the power play whenever Boston gives them the extra-man advantage. They had three power play opportunities against the Canucks and didn’t capitalize on them. The Bruins play a clean game of hockey so when the Stars get a chance to score on the extra-man advantage. If the Stars can’t score on the extra-man advantage tonight, it might be a very long game against the Bruins. Jake Oettinger needs those Stars’ goals tonight to make his job easier.
Dallas Stars vs. Boston Bruins Preview: 2. Shut down Pasta
The Stars need to target their defensive efforts tonight shutting down David Pastrnak tonight. He’s currently leading all the Bruins in scoring with nine goals. Brad Marchand is right behind him in second place in scoring. However, Pastrnak is more of a threat because he can change the momentum with one goal. I’ve seen it happen and it’s not pretty if he scores a goal. If the Stars shut down Pasta on the ice, they might have a good chance at winning the game tonight at home.

The Stars need to have that “all gas, no brakes” mentality tonight against the Bruins. You can’t take a minute off tonight against this talented Eastern Conference team. If your goalie blinks, they will score and take over the game. The Stars need to come out of the gate aggressively and take it to the Bruins. If the Stars decide to play it conservatively tonight, they might as well just stay in the locker room.
