Back on December 21st we reported that the NAHL had tentatively approved the purchase and relocation of the dormant New Mexico Mustangs by Minnesota Junior Hockey Group. Final approval by the USA Hockey junior council took place at the USA Hockey Winter Meetings this past week on January 19th.

Minnesota Junior Hockey Group headed by Scott Krueger, Scott Meyer and Joe Pankratz has settled on a new moniker for the team which will start play in the 2013/14 season and will play their home games at the Richfield Ice Arena. The team will be known as the Minnesota Magicians and will compete in the NAHL’s Central Division along with the Aberdeen Wings (Aberdeen, SD), Austin Bruins (Austin, MN), Bismarck Bobcats (Bismarck, ND), Brookings Blizzard (Brookings, SD), Coulee Region Chill (Onalaska, WI) and Minot Minotauros (Minot, ND). A team website has been developed and can be reached at www.magicianshockey.com.
