Dallas Stars News: Seguin Touching More Hearts, Countdown
The Dallas Stars are continuing to keep themselves busy during the offseason, squeezing out every last second they have before training camp starts. After a big week of extensions and players returning from vacation to the ice, it feels good to know hockey is just around the corner.
But even with that in mind, a certain Dallas Stars center is still finding a way to consistently contribute to the community.
Tyler Seguin at it again:
After an offseason that consisted of visits to the Playboy Mansion, a nude photo shoot for the annual ESPN Body Issue, a gold medal at the World Championships, a cameo in the upcoming movie “Goon 2,” and a new clothing line moving right along, Tyler Seguin is finally back to focusing on hockey. His packed offseason included many different adventures and public events.
But in the end, Seguin still found time to give back. He participated in an annual sled hockey game to raise awareness for the Southwest Wheelchair Athletic Association. This is the the foundation that Seguin supports every season by renting out a suite for random members of the SWAA at every home game. Jordie Benn and other Dallas Stars alumni helped out and participated in the game.
Seguin was spotted with plenty of smiles (and having an In-N-Out burger fed to him by a fan during the game. His charity “Seguin’s Stars” will once again be renting out a suite for all 41 home games this year. People can say what they want about Tyler Seguin and what he does off the ice, but something like this just cannot be passed up. Seguin may enjoy some partying on the side, but he is a natural giver, and that is what really counts.
Patrik Nemeth changing numbers?
Mark Stepneski reported earlier on Twitter today that Stars young defenseman Patrik Nemeth is possibly changing to number 15. Nemeth, who just became a full-time Dallas Star last season, has worn number 37 since his first call up towards the end of the 2013-2014 season.
Not sure why this is happening, but it’s nice to know so that once the season opens, you aren’t trying to figure out the Stars newest defender wearing number 15.
The countdown is on:
As the book closes on another successful NHL offseason, the Dallas Stars are looking forward to a special 2015-2016. With today being the first day of September, we have successfully trekked our way through another dreary August. Considering October-June is when the regular season and playoffs happen, late June is when the draft occurs, and July is filled with free agency and trades, August is a rough month.
But September is here, which means training camp and preseason. So hockey is finally back and the ice is ready to be torn up for another year.
Here are a few countdown dates just to help you out:
Traverse City Tournament: September 11-15: 10 days
Training Camp at Cedar Park: September 18-22: 17 days
Preseason matchups: September 22 – October 3: 21 days
Opening Night vs. Pittsburgh Penguins: October 8: 37 days
So, a lot is starting to pop back up. That’s exciting. Expect a lot of news over the next month in regards to things such as shining prospects at Traverse City, defensive and goaltending battles at training camp, performance in preseason games, and full coverage on opening night. We’ll still be covering it all, even if most of us are going to be there.
So keep your eyes peeled. The season will be here before you know it.
