Dallas Stars News: Stars Lose In TCT, Training Camp Roster
The Dallas Stars are creeping up on their 2015 training camp in Cedar Park. They will start their five-day endeavor this Friday in order to make final preparations for the 2015-2016 season.
But another day, another plethora of Dallas Stars news to wade through. Would you expect anything less from them at this point? The spotlight always seems to find them.
Here are a few new updates from the Stars side of things:
Training Camp Roster:
The Dallas Stars officially announced their full roster for training camp yesterday. The training camp will consist of a five-day stint in Cedar Park, TX, home of the Stars AHL affiliate the Texas Stars. Training camp immediately leads into the preseason, which begins on September 22nd against the Florida Panthers on the road.
There will be plenty to watch for in this season’s training camp, including battles for starting spots on offense, defense, and in net. For the first year ever, the Stars will enter camp without complete certainty on where many players will fall. It will be interesting to see how each one reacts to the competition and who ultimately prevails.

Stars Prospects Fall Short In Traverse City Tournament:
The Dallas Stars once again fell victim to color analyst Daryl “Razor” Reaugh’s ultimate philosophy: a two-goal lead is the worst lead in hockey.
More From Blackout Dallas – Stars Get Off On Right Foot At Traverse City Tournament
After losing to the Carolina Hurricanes in overtime on Saturday afternoon which involved giving up a two goal lead, the Stars hit the ice one last time in their divisional round robin at the Traverse City Tournament. There was plenty of hope going into the tournament for a young but lethal Dallas Stars prospect group. Sadly, not much of it came to fruition. A miraculous win against the Chicago Blackhawks to start their tournament play left many feeling that 2015 could be the Stars year to win the tournament.

But after the OT loss to Carolina, the Stars were in a must-win scenario in regulation against the Detroit Red Wings. The game was a hard fought one through two periods, with each team boasting two goals after the first forty minutes. As the third began, it was clear that the Stars were hungry for a win. They tallied two goals thanks to the help of Jason Dickinson and Brett Pollock, giving the Stars a 4-2 lead early in the final period.
But the Red Wings would answer back with quick and decisive authority. After a power play goal that cut the Stars lead to one, the Wings would score two more goals in a span of 2:12. This would remain the score until the end of the game, and the Red Wings would grab their spot in the championship with a 5-4 victory.
The Stars will now play for fifth place out of eight total teams in the tournament as they face off against division rival the Minnesota Wild at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon. Mark Stepneski from Stars Inside Edge caught a quote from Stars promising center Devin Shore.
“There are a lot of positives to build on,” Shore said. “It’s early in the year, and guys are going back to different teams after a big game tomorrow. There’s something to build on today because I thought we played really well.”
It seems as though the Dallas Stars getting back on the ice is the best thing for everyone at this point. Otherwise, I may have to write one of these “catch-up” articles every day. Either way, only three days remain until training camp is underway. So grab your sweaters out of the back of the closet and toss ’em on. The season is almost here.
