Dallas Stars Look To Knock Off Well-Rested Flyers
The Dallas Stars are currently surging through the early parts of their 2015-2016 season. They began a four-game road trip on Thursday in Tampa Bay, and it has yet to slow down or affect their soaring progress in the slightest. They face their next test Tuesday night in Philadelphia when they take on the Flyers in their first matchup of the season.
The game will be nationally broadcasted on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN), and you can also hear it on 1310AM/96.7FM The Ticket. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA.
Records and Scores
The Dallas Stars, as mentioned above, are gliding past their competition this season. Besides a simple hiccup against Colorado, the Stars have dominated every opponent they have faced and are currently riding a three-game winning streak. This puts them at a record of 4-1-0 with five points, good enough for second place in the Central Division. Their most recent game comes as a 4-2 comeback win against the Florida Panthers on Saturday night.
The Philadelphia Flyers saw a disappointing and somewhat awry start to their season, but they seem to have emerged from the rubble. They currently sit with a record of 2-1-1 which calculates to five points, putting them one point out of the final wild card spot. Their most recent game was a 3-0 win against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night.
Storylines
Stars shining bright on offense
It’s no secret that the Dallas Stars offense is lighting up the scoreboards in every game this season. Averaging 3.75 goals per game, they are experiencing one of their fastest starts in franchise history. Except this year, they are not having to rely on simply the first line. Instead, all forwards are giving it their all and performing at a high standard.
Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin are doing their part and leading the pack with eight points each, but Jason Spezza, Ales Hemsky, Mattias Janmark, and Cody Eakin are also surging at a fast pace. The Stars have seen consistency for the most part on defense and in net so far, but if they slip up they know they have a capable and powerful offense holding them up.
Flyers emerging from early season rubble
The Philadelphia Flyers started the season with primarily little hope. After another season without playoffs in 2014-2015, the Flyers neglected to make any significant additions in the offseason. This season started as most expected it to for Philly, with losses.
After a 3-2 overtime heartbreaker to the defending Eastern Conference champion Tampa Bay Lightning, the Flyers experienced an embarrassing loss when they were mauled by the Panthers 7-1. Two days later, hope seemed to spring up as the Flyers took a 1-0 decision against Florida. Jump ahead two more days and the Flyers dismantled the Chicago Blackhawks 3-0.
The Flyers have been off since Wednesday night of last week and are riding a two-game winning streak and some momentum. They will have plenty of energy to use on a Dallas Stars team that is currently dealing with the troubles of long travel.
