Dallas Stars SuperBracket: Sweet 16 Results
Over on Twitter, the team at Blackout Dallas have posted intriguing matchup after intriguing matchup in an effort to find the favorite Dallas Stars player, person, season, you name it.
On Thursday, the NCAA men’s basketball tournament will kick off its heavily-anticipated third round, or the “Sweet 16,” in order to progress the field into the championship game.
The team at Blackout Dallas, who have assembled a massive Dallas Stars “SuperBracket,” have done the same; chopping the field of the top Dallas Stars forwards, defensemen, goaltenders, general managers, coaches, jerseys, seasons, and moments in team history down to just eight remaining participants.
The quest to narrow down this tournament bracket from 68 to one began Thursday morning on @BlackoutDallas, the official Twitter account of the aforementioned Stars blog and news headquarters, and continued on Tuesday with all eight of the Sweet 16 matches.

Now, citing the original Stars SuperBracket piece on Blackout Dallas, the Elite Eight format will be played according to this:
“When the Elite Eight comes along, the moniker the NCAA uses to refer to its tournament’s final eight teams, the fields mix and get even more interesting. The winning defenseman will face off against the winning coach, the top forward will meet the top jersey, the preeminent goalie will take on the best season in Stars history, and the best general manager will square off against the top moment in team history.”
By these rules, the final eight competitors will line up like this…
#1 Ken Hitchcock (Coaches) vs #1 Sergei Zubov (Defense)
#1 Mike Modano (Forwards) vs #4 Victory Green Homes (Jerseys)
#1 1998-99 (Seasons) vs #2 Ed Belfour (Goalies)
#2 Jim Nill (General Managers) vs #5 Brett Hull’s Cup-clincher in 1999 (Moments)
