This entire week is the busiest week of the entire NHL offseason. Let’s quickly catch you up on what’s happened with the Dallas Stars over the past day.

Welcome to the Dallas Stars newsroom, where the noteworthy events are important and our speculations don’t matter (10 points if you can guess the reference).

The last week has been pretty crazy across the NHL, and things are only about to get crazier. On Saturday, all 30 teams turned in their protected lists for the Vegas Golden Knights. On Sunday, those lists were made open to the public. Monday was simply a day for speculation. And yesterday, Adidas released the new jersey designs for each of the 31 NHL teams that they will wear to begin the 2017-18 season.

In addition to the hype surrounding that, the NHL Awards show is scheduled for tonight, and the Vegas Golden Knights will announce their roster during the broadcast.

Let’s dive right in with these two stories.

Dallas Stars stick to same jersey design

About three weeks ago, reports came out that the Dallas Stars would be one of 12 teams making changes to their jersey design as the NHL crossed over to Adidas. But after last night’s big reveal, it looks as though those reports may have been false.

It looks very similar to the jerseys that the Stars have been wearing since 2013, only with the logo on the back of the neck being changed from Reebok to Adidas. The color looks the same, the stripes have the same color and pattern, the laces are still on the collar, and the shoulder patches have the same design. The only noticeable difference is that the white collar is now bigger, but that is the same with every new jersey.

Stars President and CEO Jim Lites pointed out that the team wanted to stick as close to the 2013 design as possible when working with Adidas on the new layout. It looks like they succeeded on that front and kept one of the prettiest jerseys in the NHL intact.

  • How to watch 2017 NHL Awards show

The 2017 NHL Awards will air on NBCSN tonight at 7 p.m. CT. In the show, awards like the Hart Trophy (league MVP), Vezina Trophy (best goaltender), and Norris Trophy (best defenseman) will all be awarded to their rightful recipients.

And while there are no Dallas Stars in contention for any awards this year, there is still plenty of reason to watch the show.

That’s because the Vegas Golden Knights will announce their inaugural roster periodically throughout the show.

The reports are that after every two or three awards are announced, the Knights will announce a chunk (4-5 players) of their roster. They will start with the player they select from the Colorado Avalanche, considering the Avs finished last in the league in 2016-17. From there, they will announce the players in reverse order of the standings.

So, following the Avs will be the Vancouver Canucks, Arizona Coyotes, New Jersey Devils, and so on. In that case, the Dallas Stars player picked by Vegas will be announced seventh overall (considering Dallas finished 24th in the league).
