It’s the 1st of the month, and that means Blackout Dallas is back with another rundown of Dallas Stars power rankings. This time, it’s a recap of the best in January.

Post All-Star break hockey means every team, not excluding the Dallas Stars, has to turn it up a bit on the ice. Similar to baseball in September, it’s a significant stretch during which every attainable point matters more.

These Stars are ready to go, but in the gauntlet known as the Central Division, one slip up can end an entire season of hopes and dreams. Surely they know that, and will play with their backs against the wall for the remaining 21 games.

In February, March, and the early parts of April, every game is a playoff game. With the Stanley Cup reflecting off the eyes of Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin, and John Klingberg, there’s an added tensity to each matchup left to be played.

With being said, if the Stars play like they did in January, the postseason is more of a sure thing than it is today. No uncertainty is to be had with their playoff picture when they get contributions from a number of unheard of players, going 6-3-2 with a +8 goal differential.

Aaannnyyywwwaaayyy, this is a power rankings post, not a team analysis post – and I should learn to calm down eventually.

If you’re familiar with the Dallas Stars power rankings we do every month, go right ahead and enjoy (or, do not enjoy, and instead swear at us in the comments). If you’re not, then refer to past editions of the rundown to get a feel for what we’re all about.

Use these nifty shortcodes to navigate through the post and share this with your friends – even the ones who aren’t hockey fans. They might be a little confused, but it’s whatever. Keep in mind, we like to have some fun with these lists, so there is a lot of attempted humor and much less analysis than usual. Thanks and enjoy!
