The 2018 NHL Entry Draft is less than two months away, and the Dallas Stars will play host. Here is recently released information about how to secure tickets to the weekend festivities.
As April quickly approaches an end and turns into May, the Stanley Cup Playoffs are in full swing. And once again, the Dallas Stars are not in the mix. Instead, they are at home, preparing for another offseason of change.
But they are also giving an extra bit of focus to the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. For the first time in NHL history, the draft will be hosted in Dallas on June 22-23, 2018. It will take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
For just the second time ever, 31 teams will converge at a singular location to select some of hockey’s brightest prospects. And while there are plenty of questions revolving around where each team will fall in the draft order and who each team will select, there is another question, specifically from the fans. That question is in regards to how they get into the arena to serve as spectators.
On Wednesday morning, that information was released. And as it goes when every NHL team is given draft hosting privileges, the Dallas Stars faithful get first dibs.

In the announcement, it was pointed out that 2018-19 Dallas Stars season ticket holders will have the first chance at securing tickets. Tickets for those specific holders will go on sale on April 30. Following that, plan holders from the 2017-18 season will get an opportunity to purchase tickets on May 2. Stars Insiders (sign up for FREE to be one here) can then purchase tickets on May 4. And finally, tickets go on sale to the general public on May 7.
Tickets are specific for the day that they are purchased for. In other words, tickets for the first day (Round One) are only usable for Friday night. Tickets purchased for the second day (Rounds 2-7) are only usable on Saturday.
On the first day, each purchaser of tickets can only buy a maximum of four tickets in an effort to give as many people an opportunity to buy as possible. Tickets for the second day can be purchased in a maximum group of eight.
And then there are the festivities going on outside of the stadium. The Dallas Stars will host the Draft Fan Fest presented by Denny’s. The festival will include the Stars Street Squad playing games, live music, a mechanical bull, and a photo opportunity with both a live longhorn and the Stanley Cup. Fans that buy a ticket to a certain day with also be given access to the Fan Fest for that day. Tickets for the Fan Fest only will be sold at a later time.
If you haven’t looked at the calendar in a minute, just realize that today is April 26. That means that season ticket holders for next year can start buying on Monday. That’s soon, so make sure you know where you fall on the spectrum and be ready to purchase if you are planning on being at either day.
