The 2018 NHL Entry Draft is less than two months away and fans are already getting excited. Like, really excited. With the Dallas Stars hosting this year’s draft, tickets are selling out quickly. Make sure to get your tickets while you still can.
The Dallas Stars are hosting their first ever NHL Entry Draft this season, and people are excited. But it’s not just the draft that makes it exciting.
It will be just the second time in 15 years that the draft is hosted by a southern hockey team. The only other team to do it was the Florida Panthers in 2015. It will also mark one of only a handful of non-traditional hockey markets to host in the 2000’s. The Los Angeles Kings hosted in 2010 and the Columbus Blue Jackets hosted in 2007.
The thing about a non-traditional market hosting is that it provides a unique experience for the NHL. It’s an experience that cannot be found in a traditional market such as Boston, Detroit, or Montreal. And while there are pros to each, the Stars will offer a unique perspective for the non-traditional arena.
The 2018 NHL Entry Draft will run from June 22-23, 2018 inside the American Airlines Center. Round one will take place on Friday night and rounds 2-7 will start up on Saturday morning. Just outside the arena, there will be plenty of festivities and an entertaining atmosphere to keep fans engaged and enthused as well. Further information on the various celebrations can be found here.

But don’t you want to see the draft? As a Dallas Stars fan, surely you want to take part in this presumably “once in 31 years” chance. After all, it could very well be within driving distance for you depending on where you live. Don’t you want to capitalize on the chance?
If you said yes, here is some time-sensitive news for you. Tickets haven’t been on sale for very long, but they are already flying off the shelves.
After tickets were first made available last week to Dallas Stars season ticket holders, they have quickly been bought up.
As of Monday afternoon, the only tickets still available are general admission for the second day. The seats are located in the terrace level (the 300’s section in the AAC) and also include access to the Fan Fest out on Victory Plaza.
While you won’t get to see the first round, there is still an opportunity to spend a hot Saturday morning in June experiencing the NHL Draft for the first time in North Texas.
The excessive selling of tickets just goes to show that hockey is still growing in popularity in the North Texas area. Things keep trending in the right direction.
