The NHL Entry Draft is a mere six weeks away, and the Dallas Stars will play host to this year’s induction of players. While it’s great for the area to have an event like this, it puts pressure on Stars fans to show up and make a statement.
Drafting well leads to Stanley Cup championships. The entirety of the NHL knows this all too well, and this year, history will be made at the American Airlines Center as it hosts its first ever NHL Draft.
Although it’s great that Big D will be the first stop for so many NHL players’ careers, there are a few things fans need to do to make sure it’s a Stars-filled weekend.
Be Loud and Proud
Despite not having the first pick in the draft, the Dallas Stars will still be making crucial moves for the future of the franchise. That means with each and every new player who is chosen to wear Victory Green, the arena needs to go wild.

Not just in the first round, not just on Friday, but the entirety of the event. Cheering and clapping for the newest members of the Dallas Stars is a requirement for the draft to have a lot of energy and really be an event to remember.
So show up, be loud and show your pride in the Stars through support.
Wear Green
This goes without saying (almost), but be sure to sport your favorite Dallas Stars shirt, jersey, hat or other form of branded gear to the event. Yes, it’s in the middle of June in Dallas. No, it’s not acceptable to pass on wearing the team’s logo because of the heat.
If you’re really not interested in sporting a long sleeve jersey when it’s insanely hot outside, opt for anything else Victory Green.
If you’re bold and willing to overcome the heat — or just carry it along to wear in the arena — more power to you. Basically, the guideline is that whatever you end up in, make sure it’s Dallas Stars-related.
An Event to Remember
It’s only once every blue moon that your team will host an event like the draft, so take pictures and celebrate like it’s a once in a lifetime occasion.
Don’t feel cheesy about being impressed by the talent walking onto the stage. Don’t let people make you feel weird for going ballistic when the Stars make a pick or announcement. Remember that this is the Stars’ draft just as much (if not more) than it is the NHL’s.
