Unlike in past years, the Dallas Stars are hosting their 2018 development camp a little earlier this summer. Take a look at the schedule and roster below and plan accordingly for the week.
There’s only 10 days separating the Dallas Stars from hosting their first ever NHL Draft.
The 2018 NHL Entry Draft will take place from June 22-23, 2018 at the American Airlines Center. For one weekend, all 31 NHL teams will send representatives to converge in the city of Dallas. Futures will be altered, trades will likely be made, and promising, new prospects will be added to rosters and farm systems.
It’s an exciting time for both teams and players that comes along each summer, and Dallas is lucky enough to play host this year.
And along with hosting comes a few additional perks. While the perks of helping the city economy and having home fans at the arena to celebrate their favorite team, it also aids with development camp.

For the past few years, the Dallas Stars have hosted a development camp each summer. This camp is a time for Stars prospects from all different leagues as well as a few invited members to show off their skills. They get a chance to work with some of the coaching staff in the organization and give a firsthand glimpse at their readiness to take the next step in their careers.
But for some players, it is a time to simply reaffirm their commitment and potential to the organization while they are playing elsewhere.
Over the past few seasons, the Dallas Stars have hosted development camp in Frisco. But in years past, it has typically taken place in early to mid-July. That’s done to give players a chance to go back home and resettle after the draft before heading down to Dallas to take part in the camp.
The difference this year? They will likely already be in Dallas for the draft itself. And as a result, the Stars are pushing to have camp at an earlier time.
