More members of the Dallas Stars have showed up to skate at the team’s practice facility this week, which puts fans one step closer to the new season.

Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn has been spotted getting in some ice time, as have other players, including Miro Heiskanen, Marc Methot, and Ben Bishop.

Training camp is about three weeks away, so players are getting out early enough to knock off the rust from the past few months. Every year around this time, more and more players start to show up every day. After going so long without hockey, it can be a relief to impatient fans who are ready for the season to start.

Some players don’t come back until closer to camp because they’re practicing in other places. On the flip side, there are often former Stars players who will end up on the ice here in DFW from time to time, including Jordie Benn and Patrik Nemeth this year. Jordie Benn has made frequent appearances in Frisco since being traded away, as his brother is obviously still here.

One player who has yet to make an appearance is Tyler Seguin, but it has absolutely nothing to do with his contract negotiations. He’s instead busy with Biosteel Camp, where he’s a team captain again this year. He’ll likely show up soon after that’s finished.

Tyler Pitlick hasn’t popped up yet either, but he’s been busy with Da Beauty League, which finished up last night. He was on the Velocity team, which made it to the finals, but lost 3-1 to Bic. Pitlick ended up named to their all-tournament team for his play, as did former Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski.

As for some of the other guys, both Alexander Radulov and Valeri Nichushkin have been in Russia still, often together if their social media posts are anything to go by. John Klingberg was just spotted getting some ice time in Switzerland. Some of them, like Gemel Smith, are still in their hometowns but working out on their own until they get here.

The players will continue to filter in over the next few weeks, and fans are welcome to go up and watch just like regular-season practice. It may not be as thrilling to watch them practice as it is to watch them play, but fans can finally start to see the light at the end of the tunnel on this long off-season. Here’s hoping that next year, the off-season is much shorter for the Stars.

Next up will be the Prospect Tournament in Traverse City in two weeks, which really kicks things into high gear. After that, training camp is the following weekend, then the first pre-season game during that week on September 18.
