The Dallas Stars opened the season strong with a 3-0 shutout, but tonight is their first Central Division test.

Both the Dallas Stars and the Winnipeg Jets are undefeated going into tonight’s game.

Last season, the Jets made it to the conference finals, and they look ready to make a deep run again this season. They didn’t make any major changes in the offseason, but they didn’t need to.

The Stars may not be able to get ahead of them in the standings by the end of the year, but if they want a chance, they need every point against them that they can get.

More from Blackout Dallas

If the Stars hope to make the playoffs this year, it’s crucial to not just take every opportunity to get points, but to also make sure every one of their Central Division opponents leaves Dallas without a point.

When the Stars played Thursday, there were quite a few games that went to overtime. The Stars won in regulation then, and they’re best off if they can make that happen again tonight because the “loser point” can have a major impact on the standings.

The Stars are going to be keeping the same line-up for tonight, which is understandable after how they played on opening night. There’s no reason to change something that’s working for now.

It’s also going to be the latest iteration of the long-running game between Tyler Seguin and Mark Scheifele to see who can be the last off the ice.

While the Stars started the season strong against the Coyotes, they’ve got a much tougher match-up ahead of them tonight. They’ll need to be sure they’re ready to go and make a strong statement to start divisional play.
