Tonight, the Dallas Stars return home from a disappointing road trip to take on the Minnesota Wild.

The Dallas Stars have had a rough last two games, only scoring one goal on their entire road trip.

After arriving back home, they even hosted a closed practice, something they rarely do.

They will obviously need to do better going forward, but the rest of the forwards will hopefully start helping out on the scoresheet at some point.

More from Blackout Dallas

Depth scoring issues for the Stars have been discussed at length both last season and this season, but it’s still frustratingly problematic for the team.

Going into tonight’s match-up, the lines are shuffled around again, though the top line is intact since they’re the only ones that are scoring with regularity. Gemel Smith will sit as a healthy scratch again while Valeri Nichushkin is also missing as he heals up from his injury.

On the defensive side, tonight will be the first time that Connor Carrick sits out. He’s had a great season since his trade, but he’s still expected to be rotating in and out this season and he’s the only one of the bottom three defensemen that hasn’t been healthy scratched yet.

The Stars and Wild don’t have the level of divisional rivalry that would be expected given their team histories, but games between them are usually great to watch. NBC even decided that tonight would be the one game that the Stars get for national broadcasting. That sounds bad at first, but don’t forget, it just means that we get Josh Bogorad and Daryl Reaugh for the other 81 games instead of dealing with national coverage.
