The Dallas Stars are back home tonight after a six-game road trip, and first up is a former divisional rival.

The Sharks are in town tonight as the first of a four-game home stand for the Dallas Stars.

Injuries are still the theme of the Stars roster right now, with none of the injured players coming back tonight.

There will be one new face on the ice, though. Denis Gurianov was called up from the AHL, and he’ll play his first NHL game of the season tonight.

More from Blackout Dallas

Gurianov has only played in one other NHL game since the Stars drafted him 12th overall in 2015. That was at the end of the 2016-17 season, and he ended the game without much to show for it.

With Gurianov coming up, it means Justin Dowling is going back down to the Texas Stars. Dowling had some good moments during his time up with the Stars, but he also had a few healthy scratches as his play varied. The decision to swap Dowling for Gurianov makes sense for the roster right now.

Gurianov may not be the solution the Stars need here, but there’s a good chance he at least helps. It’d be even more helpful is everyone could get healthy and Tyler Seguin could find the net again, but one thing at a time.

Anton Khudobin is going to get another start tonight. He’s been playing really well lately, but Ben Bishop has as well. It’s comforting to see the Stars having a solid goaltending duo after some frustrations on that front in recent years.
