Tonight, the Dallas Stars will take on the Pittsburgh Penguins for their third game in four days.

The Dallas Stars have continued to be rocked by injuries, most recently with the loss of Ben Bishop.

Bishop went down against the Rangers and will be out for a week or so. The timeline could be worse, but it comes at the worst possible time for the team as they’re in one of the roughest stretches of the season.

Not helping matters is the news that Julius Honka is sick. Honka’s play has been up and down lately, but the defense can’t handle any more bad news, and the news of his illness is troubling.

More from Blackout Dallas

Honka is the third player to miss a game recently with an illness. Roman Polak sat out against the Predators and Tyler Pitlick was sick earlier this week, causing him to miss a game as well.

This team has so many injuries already, the last thing they need is something like the flu going around the team. With everyone in such close quarters in the locker room, it’s a breeding ground for germs, so it’s no place for anything contagious.

At least it’s probably not the mumps this time, right?

Speaking of that crazy mumps outbreak, Sidney Crosby will be back in tonight after missing the past three games with an upper-body injury. The Penguins have been struggling, but any team with Crosby and Evgeni Malkin still has a fighting chance.

Dallas Stars Injury Report

Ben Bishop: Bishop is injured after straining something in the game against the Islanders, and he’ll hopefully be back in time for next week’s road trip.

Connor Carrick: Carrick is a few weeks away still.

Martin Hanzal: Hanzal has no update beyond the original timeline of sometime next month.

Julius Honka: Honka is sick, as something’s been going around the team.

Stephen Johns: Johns doesn’t have any sort of timeline at this point, since his post-traumatic headaches are so up in the air.

John Klingberg: Klingberg is still a month or so from being back at this point.

Marc Methot: Methot is still up in the air as well, with no updates in the last few days.

Devin Shore: Shore may be back on Friday, and he’s been skating at home while the Stars are on the road.

Pittsburgh Penguins Injury Report

Matt Cullen: Cullen has a lower-body injury from earlier this week and is on IR.

Justin Schultz: Schultz is on IR after breaking his leg last month, and he won’t be back from another three months or so.

This is the last road game for the Stars before they get to head home, but it’s only halfway through this rough week for them.
