After a high-scoring win last night at home, the Dallas Stars are headed up to Colorado to take on the Avalanche tonight.

It’s the fifth game in seven nights for the Dallas Stars, and it’s a rough game to end that stretch on.

The Stars have historically struggled in the Pepsi Center, going 13-21-3 since the Avalanche moved over from McNichols.

The last ever Avs game played at McNichols was a 1999 playoffs loss to the Stars, who then eliminated them two nights later, and we all know how 1999 ended up for the Stars. Maybe it’s the altitude or maybe it’s been a bit of a curse because of that, but either way, the Stars have a hard time winning in Denver ever since.

That’s going to be an even tougher task tonight, with the injury to Ben Bishop as a huge factor.

The Stars would still be facing a tough match-up even with Bishop in net, but missing him in Denver on the second night of a back-to-back with how many games the Stars have played recently while also missing John Klingberg seems like a recipe for disappointment.

It could also be that type of game where everyone is having a great night and the Stars pull out a great morale-boosting win that helps propel them into next week on a strong note.

Either way, this is a game that is probably going to have an important impact on the standings in April.

Dallas Stars Injury Report

Ben Bishop: Bishop was put on retroactive IR yesterday to make room to activate Devin Shore, but he was expected to be out for a week anyways. He will hopefully return in time for the back-to-back next week.

Connor Carrick: Carrick is still out with his foot injury.

Martin Hanzal: Hanzal will probably be back next month, if he keeps to his most recent timeline updates.

Stephen Johns: There’s no real update on Johns at this point, just that he’s still out indefinitely.

John Klingberg: Klingberg has a few more weeks, but the Stars are really missing him on the power play.

Marc Methot: Methot is skating and will hopefully be back in the next few weeks.

Tonight’s game is also a bit of a homecoming for Jim Montgomery, who coached the University of Denver for five seasons before coming to the Stars.
