After getting shutout in an overtime loss last night, the Dallas Stars will look to get some offense going tonight against the Flames.

It was only the second time this season that the Dallas Stars were shutout, but they need to get things going if they want a win tonight.

The most glaring spot that the Stars need to improve on is their power play, which has been terrible in John Klingberg‘s absence, though it was struggling before he went down as well.

The Stars have had plenty of opportunities with the extra attacker, but they just haven’t been capitalizing, and that needs to change quickly.

More from Blackout Dallas

Hopefully tonight will be the last game the Stars have to play without Ben Bishop back in the line-up. However, goaltending was certainly not the problem last night.

Anton Khudobin played a great game last night and he kept the Stars in as long as he could, earning them a point, but at the end of the day, someone has to score at least one goal for the team to have a chance to win.

The concerning thing for the goaltending is that now there’s no Bishop to play the other half of the back-to-back. Jim Montgomery made a misstep in putting Bishop in for the second game of the first back-to-back last week, though he certainly had no way of knowing how much damage that decision would eventually do.

Khudobin and Bishop are both more than capable of splitting back-to-backs and each being reliable, but instead, they each played two consecutive nights last week because of how things played out, and now there’s no Bishop for the second game here.

It was a crazy case of bad luck that Bishop got hurt on that night at that point in the schedule, but it’s kind of par for the course for the Stars this season.

Dallas Stars Injury Report

Ben Bishop: Bishop was skating with the team yesterday and he’s on the road trip, and he may be back against Vancouver.

Connor Carrick: Carrick still has at least four weeks to go in his recovery.

Martin Hanzal: Hanzal is skating with the team as well, and will probably be back in the next couple of weeks to make his season debut.

Stephen Johns: There’s still nothing new on Johns, unfortunately.

John Klingberg: Klingberg is four weeks or so from coming back, which means the power play really needs to get things fixed and not keep waiting for him to come back.

Marc Methot: Methot is also a few weeks away at least.

Calgary Flames Injury Report

Michael Frolik: Frolik has been on IR for about a week, and he’ll be back early next month.

Michael Stone: Stone is out indefinitely with a blood clot.

Juuso Valimaki: Valimaki sustained a lower-body injury last week and he’ll be out for a little while.

No matter how the game plays out tonight, the Stars have two days off before they play again, and hopefully they can be fully rested and ready to go with Bishop potentially back.
